Dick's Dream
Description: stick model. I need to make it very clear that this is a copy of an existing design. This plan was drawn up because the owner of the airplane in his club could not locate the plan or kit box. They were having a club fun fly and the plane flew so well that a lot of the members wanted to build one. The fellow (owner of the ROG) in the NW club is one of the older members and he could not remember where he ordered the kit .........probably 10 years ago. The only thing he had was the airplane which flew very well. Everyone in the club was showing a lot of interest in the model. So the model was reverse engineered. The original model was also laser cut. Had to trace the flying surfaces and take measurements and redraw the thing. Looked on the internet but to no avail could not locate the kit or plan or manufacturer. Hope some one can identify the kit so it could be ordered. Also the pylon was modified. The orginal model (did not have a pylon) had the wing directly glued to the body and this allowed for no adjustment. The addition of the pylon design helps with the adjustment for flight trimming. The thrust bearing is similar to Michael Morrow's version that he sells on his website. The name for the plane is from the owner of the airplane "Dick" this explains why it is called Dicks ROG. This is the type of plane that could be built having a cup of coffee on a saturday morning. His club members were eager to build this because of the simplicity. I must reiterate that this ROG plan of a plane that is or was commercially available. So if anyone knows what this is we would like to know.

Mystery Solved on Dick's Dream Origin.

I finally figured out which kit Dick's Dream (a.k.a. Dick's R.O.G.) was based on. Dare Engineering and Design marketed a kit called the Turbocruiser "ST" Junior. It was the model that I back engineered when I drew up the plan for Dick's R.O.G. In any event, Dare stopped producing this kit more than a decade ago, and since my design is at least 10 percent different than the original Turbocruiser "ST" Junior design (my design has an addition of a moveable wing pylon, slightly different flying surface shapes, different nose bearing detail and propeller, etc.), it does not violate any copyright laws that may still apply to the original Turbocruiser "ST" Junior design. As a matter of fact, the original Turbocruiser "ST" Junior design is a very close copy of a Louis Garami model airplane design dating back to the late 1930s/early 1940s.
