BEAMSBOX 8" Catapult Glider
Description: I built one of John Oldenkamp's Lunchbox chuck gliders many years ago and was impressed with how easy it was to make the transition from high speed launch to low speed glide. The Lunchbox is a kid friendly glider. I decided to build a catapult version of it and I wrote to John for his permission to draw plans for this catapult version; credit is given to John Oldenkamp for this glider on the plan.

Great lunch time model

I hope to get this built and fly this at work on my lunch break. This looks like fun. The plan looks great. Good job!

Great Plan!

Thanks for posting. I have been looking for the Lunchbox plans for several years. I built one as a kid when the original article first came out. What a great flyer this is. I can still remember the photo in the original article- the glider was in an aluminum lunchbox and, IIRC, a box of milk-duds was in the background.

Flys Great!!!

Our HAFFA club supports model building classes at a local school. We built 5 of these and they fly great!. One kid was able to get a 40 second flight on the athletic field right before the sun went down. I am sure you would lose this with an thermal activity. And they all fit in a shoe box!
