Gravity Center

I wanted do build a PZL - but there is a lot of trouble with the gravity centre, so i didn´t find any proper solution. Using tons of lead isn´t efficient, either. The best option is to make the nose longer and accordingly put the wing more to the back - but then the scale is gone...

C of G

Hi Bricklginta, I always look out for designs like this as it gives me an oppertunity to use a nice HEAVY engine. An older forustroke, or early 60 two stroke (maybe with baffle rather than a muffler). The trick is to get the engine to run slow and without too much vibration. This is easy with care; reduce the venturi and/or use a tight restricted muffler; use a heavy prop to help with flywheel effect for steady idle and dampen vibration. Add more hardwood to the engine mount and firewall, and cowl. Try using FAI or low nitro fuel, 15% nitro is not necessary or wanted -- (and 15% spoils the finish as well) And - important -do not be afraid of deadstick landings.. I grew up with early R/C and no throttle control, no big deal; just glides in nice an peacefull just not where it ought to land..
If CG is still too far back move the battery and servoes forward into the cowl (not hard to do). The rear fuselage on this design looks to be where you can save some tail weight. Obviously you do not want an overweight plane, but if all else fails just add the lead -- I know it seems just wrong but the finished plane will not suffer. When the covering goes on it just gains lightness.. When it flies well you will just "get over it" But I prefer big engines and strong front end to lead + it is actually more scale since that is why the real thing had a short nose!
